B&B overview
Sanko Townhouse is a small renovated Kyoto machiya on a lane just east of Kitano Tenmangu, one minute on foot from the shrine. The ground floor has a living room, a dining area, a courtyard, a bathroom with a tub and a tatami room that sleeps two on futons. Upstairs is a Western-style bedroom with a double bed; both bedrooms have blackout curtains. The stairs are steep, so the house suits guests who manage stairs easily. There is a record player in the living room. The Kitano Tenmangu-mae bus stop is 3 to 5 minutes away: City Bus 50 runs to Nijō Castle and reaches Kyoto Station in about 35 minutes, and Bus 10 goes to Shijō Kawaramachi. Kitano-Hakubaicho, 8 to 10 minutes on foot, has the Randen tram towards Ryōan-ji, Ninna-ji and Arashiyama, and buses 204 and 205 to Kinkaku-ji. Kamishichiken, one of Kyoto's geiko districts, is close by, and on the 25th of every month the shrine holds its Tenjin market. A taxi from Kyoto Station takes about 20 minutes. The house is registered under the Private Lodging Business Act (M260068550).
