Naramachi Art House

Naramachi Art House is a whole house in Naramachi, the old quarter at the centre of Nara, a short walk from Nara Park and the temples around it. The building is finished in exposed concrete and furnished sparely, with contemporary art and antique tea ware set out through the rooms and changed from time to time; the owner collects both. There are two bedrooms, a tatami room laid with three futons and a Western room with two single beds, plus a sofa bed in the living room; the house sleeps 5 and has one and a half bathrooms. The kitchen is set up for real cooking, with an oven, a dishwasher, a rice cooker, a coffee machine and a full set of tea and tableware, and there is a washer and dryer in the house. Floor heating runs under the ground floor and three air conditioners cover the rest. The garden is private and enclosed. The nearest station is JR Kyobate. The house holds a lodging business licence from the Nara City health centre, so it takes guests year-round.
