Fake Booking.com listing uses our photos.
A Booking.com page titled Modern Luxury 3BR Kyoto Villa Near Imperial Palace uses the photos, registration number and location of a house The081 manages in Kyoto. The081 has no listings on Booking.com and cannot honour bookings made through that page.

A page on Booking.com is titled Modern Luxury 3BR Kyoto Villa Near Imperial Palace. Every interior photograph on it was taken in a house The081 manages in Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto.
The page is not ours. The081 has never listed a property on Booking.com, and has authorised no one to do so on our behalf.
What was taken, and what was invented
The number printed at the foot of the page, M260063994, is the genuine registration issued to that house under Japan's home-sharing law. The map pin sits close to where the house actually stands.
The name, the street address and the price are invented. The address reads 三丁町441-5, a place name in Gion several kilometres from the pin on the same page. The rate shown is ¥34,000 for two nights.
The page carries zero guest reviews. Its own description contradicts itself. The title says three bedrooms, the text says one, and 97 square metres is listed as sleeping two adults.
Bookings made through that page
The081 cannot receive guests who booked through it. The contract is not with us, and the reservation never reaches our system.
The page says no prepayment is required, then states that cancellation costs 50% of the total. No prepayment does not mean the card cannot be charged.
Guests who have paid, or who have been charged a cancellation fee, should contact Booking.com customer service directly. We have no standing to act on another platform's reservation.
The map coordinates point at the real house, so guests may arrive at the door. A notice in English and Japanese is now posted there, stating that the house has never been listed on Booking.com.
Our channels are listed on this site
The houses The081 manages in Kyoto take bookings on Airbnb, and this site lists each one with a link to its Airbnb page. As of August 2026 we have no property on Booking.com.
Checking a registration number is not enough, because a number can be copied. The official booking channels page is the list that governs. It is updated whenever a channel changes.
We have reported the page to Booking.com. It was still online when this was written, and this post will be updated when it comes down.
