B&B overview
Kyoto-Gojo Villa is a fully restored, certified machiya in Toichi-cho, an old quarter of downtown Shimogyo tucked just off the Kamo River, central but on a quiet residential lane rather than a busy street. The renovation kept the machiya's traditional character and layered in the comforts of modern Japan, so it reads as a calm place to come back to after a day out. Keihan Kiyomizu-Gojo Station is only a few minutes on foot, and the Gion and Miyagawa-cho geisha districts and the Shijo-Kawaramachi shopping and dining area are all within about ten minutes' walk, with Kiyomizu-dera a little further on. Across three bedrooms it sleeps up to five: a double bed and a two-futon room on the second floor, plus a third futon room on the ground floor for a fifth guest. It suits a family or small group who want an authentic machiya without trading away a central, walkable base.
